Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was born on November 30, 1977
in Miami, Florida. American electro house music producer, D.J., and record
producer Steve Aoki is his nickname. Music executive. He's the third child of
Chizuru Kobayashi & Rocky Aoki. His father, who was a former wrestler
was also co-founder of the chain of restaurants Benihana. There are two
siblings that include sister Kana who is usually called Grace by her middle
name Grace and brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi). His half-sister is Devon
Aoki, a model and actress. The family was raised in Newport Beach, California
and graduated from Newport Harbor High School, where he was a member of the
varsity badminton team. He went to UC Santa Barbara and graduated with a 2nd
B.A. He earned two degrees: one in sociology and one in feminist studies. In
the college years, he made self-made records and hosted underground concerts
out of his Biko room in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The
Pickle Patch became a concert venue when the apartment was named The Pickle
Patch. He was active in student activism , and he founded an Revolutionary
Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. He had started an independent record
label when he was during the 20s. It was called Dim Mak named after his idol
from childhood Bruce Lee. He came out with I'm IN THE HOUSE in the year 2000,
in collaboration with the Zuper Blahq, the alter-ego of will.i.am. It made it
to No. 29 in the U.K. singles chart in the first week. The track later made it
into the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, being among the top 5
on both charts. The song was featured in an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore. It
also was included in Piranha, the feature film Piranha and the trailer for
Think Like A Man. In a May interview with HitQuarters, Lucas Secon, the
producer-songwriter, confirmed that he and Rivers Cuomo had just worked on the
single. Pollstar named him the highest-grossing North America dance artist from
performances in 2012. His collaborations include artists like Afrojack, LMFAO
and Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis
Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vici and Fall Out Boy. He is known for remixing
artists like Kid Cudi.
